"The Gate of Hope" ~ The symbolism is that the little girl is coming out of the chill of the shadow into the warmth of the sunlight - thus there is hope as she passes through the gate.

The support is heavy-weight acid-free illustration board. It is coated with gesso tinted with magenta acrylic mixed with fine pumice powder. The magenta gesso under-painting peeks through the pastel strokes throughout the painting which succeeds in unifying the entire work.
