Art: Swirly Bead - Gold, White and Transparent White by Artist Jane Gould
A beautiful swirly bead made from gold, opaque white and transparent white Fimo with some glitter added to one of the canes.

This item is UNAVAILABLE to purchase.

This was a gift to my Mother for her 60th Birthday on 27th August 2009, with the addition of a matching gold ribbon (just visible in top detailed image).

This is my entry into the EBSQ Art Show: One-Word Concept "deconstructed", September 2009.

TO DECONSTRUCT: - verb: to break down into constituent parts; dissect; dismantle.

I have chosen this bead as it was made by slicing (deconstructing) several different Fimo 'canes' very thinly, applying each individual slice in turn in overlapping layers to a Fimo base.

The completed structure was then smoothed out as much as possible by hand, then baked in the oven to reveal and transform the appearance of the layers into the transparent white, gold and opaque white you now see together on the one piece.

This was finally sanded with 'wet and dry' paper to give an extremely smooth finish.

See the bottom detailed image, before it was baked in the oven, showing the opaqueness of the Fimo clay.
