Art: Red Elm & Holly Wood Box by Artist Daniel L. Miller

This piece is made of Red Elm wood with a Holly lid. The vessel wall is 3/16" and the foot is a 1.75" giving it a 1/8" lift. These woods turn easily and this smooth easy-flowing design is a delight to hold. I gave the Holly lid a loose fit so as to be easily removed, like on a sugar bowl. Sanded to 600 grit, coated with food-safe Deft sanding sealer and buffed on the three-wheel Beal system with Carnauba wax for a long lasting polished finish.
