Art: Untitled Pendant by Artist Dianne McGhee
New from me is stained glass jewelry pendants. Each one is an original, one-of-a-kind creation, created by me. This is made from electric blue glass and bright purple and blue glass beads. There are several steps taken along the way to produce the final art piece you're looking at now. Each pendant is created from a piece of colored glass that I cut in to the shape of the pendant. Then I grind it on a grinder to smooth the edges and remove any sharp edges. (This is usually where I cut my fingers) Then I foil each piece with a copper tape so that the solder will adhere to it. I use silver, lead free solder around each pendant. Then I take wire and twist and bend it in different shapes and solder it in to place trying not to burn my fingers. Iíve jazzed it up with decorative soldering to give the piece extra personality. Finally Iíve applied a protective coating that will give it shine and keep it from oxidation over the years. The dangling beads finish it off for extra fun. I'm including a silver chain with each pendant so you can start wearing it right away. It's the chain that is shown in the top of the picture. You can easily replace it with either a leather or satin cord or a funky chain that you like. Please let me know if you want an 18 inch or a 24 inch chain.
