This art was inspired by a song called "Carousel" by Melanie Martinez. Though the lyrics are referring to a love affair that seems not to lacking either passion or fidelity, indeed the affair comes close but never quite reaches fruition. I assume they are talking about love between two people, but it is a perfect illustration of my relationship with my art. I am sure other feel this way also and I would be remiss if I didn't remind you there is always another round, another piece of art, and another day.
Here is a quote from the lyrics used:
Round and round like a horse on a carousel, we go,
Will I catch up to love? I could never tell, I know,
Chasing after you is like a fairytale, but I,
Feel like I'm glued on tight to this carousel
This horse is too slow,
We're always this close,
Almost, almost, we're a freakshow
Right, right when I'm near,
It's like you disappear,
Where'd you go? Mr. Houdini, you're a freakshow.
This art was created by using a photo a friend of mine took as a template for shape and positioning and then utilizing the oil painting brush in ArtRage4, to completely re-illustrate the entire photo and adding images beyond the borders of the photo and removing and replacing much of the background that I found distracting. I brought the image back into Photoshop and utilized Flexify II for subtle lighting effect. I finished edited the image in onOne Photoshop extension.
