These precious little earrings are made using the traditional batick wax and dye process on a pair of real blown finch eggs. They are given a base coat of uv resistant clear varnish as well as filled and coated with several layers of a special crystal clear polymer finish to give them strength and durability. (This is the same finish often used on countertops to seal coins, bills and other memorabliia into the surface.)
The level of difficulty is extremely high when working with the delicate finch eggs, but very rewarding. They are so fragile, their paper thin shells will often crumble in your fingers or burn almost instantaneously during wax removal. However, once the special polymer finish is applied, they are amazingly strong and can withstand any big hugs you may receive. The earring findings and even the little bead cups are both 14 karat solid gold, not gold-plated or gold-filled.
The design features diamonds, shining stars and bright little flower buds. Earrings come mounted on a black flocked earring card in a gold foil box with satin ribbon ready for gift giving.
