This was actually done as a "Weekend Drawing Event" through an online group I'm on. The reference pic was taken from the image library there and we had two hours to paint it in the medium of our choice, as well as the style of our choice. At the end of two hours, we each post what we've done up to the time limit. Mine was done in watercolour. (Took me much, much longer than the two hour maximum though!)
What I love about this is the way the tulip seems to come right out of the painting towards you - at least, it does in real life. Given to my sister-in-law, Nicole, as a thank you gift.
Painted on an 11 x 14 inch piece of 300 lb Arches Cold Pressed watercolour paper with Winsor Newton paints.
