My Grandmother had such beautiful things in her house, and her home was always immaculately arranged, near gallery-like. She had earthenware vases like this one and grew roses in her garden; it seemed natural to pay tribute to her with the combination of the two things she treasured. This painting is a loving remembrance of Virginia Taylor, my grandmother. I don't do watercolor any more, but I am keeping this work in my portfolio to honor my dear Grandma, whom I miss every day.
