"On a gray overcast day, a seagull and pelican stand contemplating their next moves."
Artist Comments: "When the brown pelicans migrate through Washington State, they are a wondrous sight on the beach. Sometimes they are gathered in flocks and sometimes solitary. My research revealed that gulls will pester a pelican when it is feeding until it gives up its catch to the raucus seagull. In this pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes paper, I focused on the tension between these two birds. The cool gray of the scene sets off the warm tones in the faces and feet of the seagull and pelican.
