"The White Shark, strikes terror into the hearts of drug purveyors all along the Pacific Coast.
Artist comment: "The name El Tiburon Blanco (The White Shark) was given to this coast guard cutter CGC Steadfast (WMEC-623) by the drug lords of Central America. From Canada to South America, she (with her stalwart crew of 12 officers and 63 men) enforce fisheries laws and regulations and focuses on detecting and interdicting drug and migrant smuggling activity. When I saw her in Astoria, Oregon, I knew I had to portray her clean strong character glistening in the bright sunshine. An intimidating sight indeed! I used pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes paper because of the purity of color and vivid hues that I can render in pastel.
