"The fleeting cold sunshine will soon fade as the sky and sea take on their covering of winter greys."Artist comment: "Winter on the Pacific Northwest coast of Washington and Oregon is typically raining or just plain grey overcast. Still there is color in the water and foam as waves meet the shore. In this long narrow oil painting, I had an opportunity to explore this concept by keeping color to a minimum. I painted the cresting and spilling water a soft green. The surface foam is done in a blue-grey to reflect the lowering sky. I have studied wave patterns for nearly 25 years, and I am always fascinated by the never-ending diversity of their shapes." |
