Art: Wind And Rain by Artist Carol Thompson

"A squall is brewing out over the Pacific Ocean and soon wind and rain will obscure the distant lighthouse and headland."

Artist comment:  "In this oil painting, I tried to convey the feeling of wind driven waves beating relentlessly against unyielding rocks.  I sketched the composition to include three major waves, balancing the cliff with a series of rocks in the foreground.  I painted the sky with a patch of blue which is all that remains of a sunny morning, yet the sun still shines on the tranlucent water as it rises and breaks.  The cliff and rocks were rendered with a palette knife.  I completed the scene with foam patterns and run-off on the rocks."
