"Warrior Rock light is a small but mighty light on Sauvie Island in the Columbia River north of Portland, Oregon."
Artist comment: "This pretty little light is an important guide to shipping on the Columbia River. One day my husband and I walked along the sandy beach of the river, around fallen trees, under large low limbs, and over piles of debris that were dangerously riddled with hazardous materials. One highlight of the journey was a large boat headed out to sea on the river. The low point was when climbing over a debris pile that contained boards with nails in them, I stepped on one and drove a nail through my tennis shoes into my foot. After researching the light we discovered, a short distance from the beach, and paralleling it, a wonderful well constructed trail. So ended the saga of Warrior Rock Light on Sauvie Island, where blood was drawn on more than one occasion. Oh yes, I understand that there is a nudist colony on the island somewhere."
