"Rolling clouds and crashing surf mark a midday tide on 'the sea in June'."Artist comment: "In this oil painting, on stretched canvas, I wanted to portray the water as being warm and sunlit with seafoam green swirls in the foreground. Living near the ocean in Washington State, I have daily access to the shore. Painting the sea is my daily occupation. I began with a preliminary sketch with a grey tone working out the composition as I drew. I then began at the sky, and on down. The greens were done all at the same time, lights first then darks. Next came the foam patterns with a yellow tinged white. Finally I put the splashing foam on the edges of the rollovers." |
