"A trio of rock formations creates splashes and foam patterns on a 'sunny day' at the edge of the sea."

Artist comment:  "This oil painting on canvas is a 'Z' composition which draws your eyes through the scene and back again.  I placed the translucent wave at the left edge to balance the large dark of the big rock. Two minor rock formations keep the interest going.  These serve to create small foam patterns.  After all the elements were sketched, I started with the sky, bringing the sky color onto the surface where the foam would be in sunlight.  Next I put the dark greens on the horizon and foreground.  Then I did the rocks with a palette knife.  When the greens had 'set up', I started putting in the foam patterns.  I then made runoff on the rocks.  The final touch was to indicate sunlight 'stars' on the front swells.  Lastly I made three 'M' birds in the sky."
