"A narrow band of fog is beginning to settle over the ocean causing a 'sunglow' that lights up the late afternoon sea and towering cliffs."
Artist comment: "Sunsets on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Washington and Oregon can be colorfully glorious. I enjoy painting the warms and cools of such a scene. After sketching the 'C' composition, I carefully laid in the areas of gold and orange, completing the translucencies of the waves at the same time. Then I articulated the dark water in the foreground. Next the rocks and headlands, completing them at once. I painted the splashes and floating foam and runoff on the rocks. Lastly, I put in the distant rock stacks, the highlights on the rocks, and definition on the trees."
