"The wind is picking up; the clouds are roiling; the waves are building, as a 'storm at sea' approaches."
Artist comment: "Here on the Pacific Northwest coast of Washington and Oregon, the weather is variable, from sunny calm days, to wind driven cloudy, dark, rainy days. In my 'stormy seas' series I have attempted to capture that mood with oil on canvas. First, I sketched the composition with a mix of grey oil paint. Then, beginning with the sky, I painted the clouds, bringing some of that color down to the foreground and reserving the rest for foam patterns. I mixed a dark green for the background water and major wave, lightening it in the translucencies. Finally I painted the lightest lights on the cresting wave."
