Artist comment:  "One day, while flipping through a travel magazine, I came across a beautiful tropical scene in soft pastel colors.  I was inspired.  As a result, I  composed this oil painting on stretched canvas, as though the same warm, wonderful setting were here on a balmy summer afternoon in the Northwest.  I exaggerated the billowing clouds, and rainbow pastel colors, at the same time keeping the direction and quality of light accurate and believable.  Not very long after the completion of this piece, when driving down the Oregon coast, on a balmy summer afternoon, can you guess?, there before me in real life, was the same circumstance that had inspired me.  Nature is full of surprises."
