Art: The Guardian by Artist Paula J. Nelson
Iridescent stained glass, Chicago Art glass, mirror [gold, rose, purple and silver], glass beads, millefiore and an antique crystal.

The design is called many names: the hand of Fatima, the hamsa (Arabic) or hamesh (Hebrew). The words hamsa and hamesh mean "five" and refer to the digits on the hand.

This is something I wanted to do for myself for a long time. The design is found in amulets ment for magical protection from the envious or evil eye.
