I have made literally hundreds of similar mosaic pieces in the past. It all started when I discovered brush strokes on my palettes that were pleasing to the eye... Like a lot of artists, I use paper plates for my palettes. I began to save my used palettes, and I cut them up into one-inch squares for the purpose of creating mosaic work. The little works were so popular for awhile that I began to run out of used palettes, so I started creating abstract works "on purpose" - for the purpose of cutting them up into one-inch squares. In this way I could plan the outcome a little more, and the works became even more appealing. Here is yet another, and I call it "Full Circle".
