Art: Spill The Beans by Artist Robin Cruz McGee
This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. Please be sure to search for NFAC to see more great entries, each starting at just 99¢. Thanks!

This month, the theme is coffee. I brew my own coffee every morning ground straight from the beans. Mmmm, good!! It's hard to beat fresh ground, though sometimes I tend to spill the beans. Coffee is also good when shared with friends! A nice get together gives everyone a good chance to spill the beans in a different way!

This work is chased onto copper.Chasing is a process of inscribing lines in the surface of metal using chisels and punches. It is similar to engraving but does not remove any material. The line width and depth is controlled by the power of the strike and the angle of the tool. The copper has had a darkening patina added and then a coat of paste wax. Some of the patina was removed in the process on the band of the cup, the edge of the saucer and around the rising vapors.

I hope that you enjoy looking at this work and think of that morning coffee when you do! Can't you just taste it?
