This was an art card chasing that I did while I was exhibiting at the Stars and Stripes Arts Festival. The scene is an imaginary image patterened after some of the views that I have seen along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC and VA. The one that comes to mind for this piece was an overlook above the James River. Chasing is a process of inscribing lines in the surface of metal using chisels and punches. It is similar to engraving but does not remove any material. The line width and depth is controlled by the power of the strike and the angle of the tool.
