Another in my comet series, this piece is is done in fine and sterling silver, 24 kt. gold and features a flashy red dichroic glass centerpiece.This is a large and attention getting piece!
The design was based on a collaboration between Donna Gill Colestock and myself. There is a wire underbezel to give some visual thickness to the edge and give the piece some structural strength. The gold is applied using the technique of Keum Boo. This is a way of bonding pure gold to silver using heat and pressure.There is a joint and clasp back on it.
Also, ther is an extra piece that, when slid onto the pin, funtions as a bail so that the Red Rocket can be worn as a pendant also. (see detail pictures)
