New from me is fused glass, stained glass pendants. Each one is an original, one-of-a-kind creation, created by me. This one has a purple face and and a green nose. Vibrant blue dichroic glass makes the eyes just sparkle. Many steps are taken along the way to produce the final art piece you're looking at now. First, each face is cut from colorful bullseye glass. From there, all the tiny glass that creates the facial features is also cut and glued in place to prepare it for firing in the kiln. I've used dichroic glass for the eyes which doesn't release it's beauty until it's been fired. The eyes just sparkle and almost glow. I fire up the kiln to heat the glass to almost 1500 degrees and it cools down overnight annealing the glass. (a process that toughens the glass and reduces brittleness) I then wrap each piece in foil and solder funky wires around the face in a lead free silver solder. I’ve jazzed it up with more decorative soldering while trying not to burn my fingers. The final step is to apply a protective coating that will give it shine and keep it from oxidation over the years. And that's it!!! Now my secret is out. I'm including a silver chain with each pendant so you can start wearing it right away. It's the chain that is shown in the top of the picture. You can easily replace it with either a leather or satin cord or a funky chain that you like. Please let me know if you want an 18 inch or a 24 inch chain.
