Glass Art Warm Art Gallery

Art: Noise by Artist Dawn Lee Thompson
This bowl is part of a series of female nude pieces exploring both physical and emotional vulnerabilities in the context of long term relationships. This piece is a physical depiction of those times when a relationship problem seems outwardly simple, but is really so terribly complex, with so many nuances that your mind becomes nearly frozen in its confusion. When you want all that inner noise and circular thinking to just....stop. This bowl was constructed with Bullseye art glas; meticulously hand cut, ground and assembled then kiln fired to fuse the individual pieces into one sheet of glass, then kiln fired again to slump into an elegant bowl. It is 8" in diameter and approx 1.25" deep. It was slumped on a "ball" mold, with no foot, so the bottom is perfectly rounded and balanced. (It will spin if you turn it.) The background glass on this piece is quite unique. It is very old, for fusing glass. Vintage early '80's. I found it at a barn sale. The deep gray is streaked with white and the amber circle elements have a beautiful rainbow irridized sheen. The figure is of bold marigold yellow and black. Each of my vessels is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art.
