Ok, now I am in the chapter on Paper.  Painter has several different types, and they can all be changed a variety of ways to make them more interesting.  Also, the book gave directions for getting more paper types!  So many choices!!

Here is the pic I am using...

Below is the image using two different kinds of paper.  The paper on the left is Simulated Woodgrain and I used different values of paper scaling....from 0% to 400%..........the second paper is  Thick Handmade paper with changing contrast from 0% to 400%....pretty interesting, ha?  Not sure I like the results, but they sure are different.

Finally an image I made using Thick Handmade paper...first I used Chalk to cover the whole image with a rather high contrast paper.  Then I used my favorite, Smeary Blender to bring out detail in the middle.  I printed this one....came out ok.  not great.  Looks better smaller!  LOL

Even printed you can't see much of the texture in the center, but I think that is because I used a smeary brush.......but there is some texture, more than there would be on a different, smoother paper.

Well, enough experimentation for today!

I like this one, looks like your getting the hang of it,boy you would't think there would be that much difference in the paper you chose,i like the effect around the edges on this one.

That is interesting!! I wonder what it would be like to paint onto that paper. Remember with that tutorial I did the writer actually photographed a painting on canvas to use as a layer later for texture canvas effect.

I might look into downloading a trial of Painter to check it out myself.

the paper adds another dimension to Painter.  The program doesn't have as many types of paper as brushes, but still it has quite a few.  Also, there are some more on the CD that came with the program, I just haven't downloaded them.  Actually, the ones that came with it and what you can do to them will be enough for me for a while!
