I am still experimenting with brushes.  There are tons of brushes and each one has all sorts of variations.......and I haven't even gotten into the tons of different papers in Painter!

Well, first I tried a brush that smeared a little bit.  Sorry, I don't remember the name.  Then I put it through an automatic painter thing that painted the whole thing.  (but, it is automatic, just one click and off it goes...where is the fun in that??)  You can see the automatic brushwork on the section with a lot of white spots.  I like this experiment.... mixing different brushes is interesting.

Here is another experiment using the same picture, but different size brushes and a large brush.  Sad to say, It didn't work out! It is really easy to mess these up!

Finally this one is done using a Smeary Bristle Blender brush.  I enjoyed working with this one.  If you went fast it smeared a lot, but if you went slower is picked up more detail from the image.

Back to more experimenting.  I am using the book, Painter X for Photographers by Martin Addison in case anyone is curious.

I put this into Digital so we could have some activity here, but that seems to get it sucked into the pit of no replies.  sigh.  Should I put it into the WIP section?  But, it is really not a wip.  it is an exploration of a digital art technique.  I thought everyone went to the link, "Posts since last visit" and this should show up.

Thanks Christi, ........yes, I agree that the white dots are distracting.  Just another way to use the brushes and that is what ends up. None of these could be considered finished, but I had to close the file.  Still not sure how to close it and still be able to work on it later.  problem there!

Carolyn I would keep it here!! I kept meaning to reply, just have so much I'm trying to juggle at once.

I really enjoy seeing your experiments. In Painter X can you use layers like in Photoshop?

I haven't done anything with layers, but you can do layers in Painter.  Much of the program looks and acts lik Photoshop, so if you are even somewhat familiar with Photoshop Painter is a comfortable looking program.
