Status: offline 		I've now been featured twice on the front page of etsy, and it appears I've made it to be featured on the front page of etsy again this morning!





This mornings listing hasn't been shown yet, but I think it is the same jar of apple jam again today! LOL

Anyways, I was thinking, for those people who don't know if they've been featured or not, I was given this wonderful website:

This also tells you who and when they heart your shop and what their user info and their shop is. Very informative!

I did notice Etsy was picky with front page and featured... I've since looked up better photos, and viewed what the viewed as worthy.

Other rules state they want people without complaints from other members or customers... they want 100% feedback.

We need to start a thread on how to make front page worthy photos!

Status: offline 		I have mentioned before that people need to have really good looking pics of their stuff in order for the treasuries to be chosen for the first page and no one seemed motivated by that - perhaps since you have proven results with your jams you can start that thread and have evidence to support what you are saying.

My thought is that some pictures belong on the second view that you can check if you have opened the item page up - like coins to show the relation in size and full sized artwork images that don't fill the square because they are rectangular in size - those should be in a secondary image not the main image - images like that will not make it on the home page and any treasury they are in will not make it in on the homepage from what I have seen.

Status: offline 		Sorry I didn't get back to this earlier. I did get a little busy... and then got sucked into EVIL Twitter and Facebook yesterday.

Anyways, I got help with the photoing by asking questions in Promotions section and Etsy section of the forums over there about a month or so again.

I did one round of photo in all natural light outside... I think they ended up too bright, but were great for my listings... someone suggested more 'muted' tones, or a solid background for my first photo. That first photo on your listing needs to be eye candy! Pretty, artsy and like an advertisement for your entire store... not just that item. You want them to click... like... and then browse your whole store if they don't buy just that item!

Like Heide said, no one cares how big that item is in comparison to a quarter before they click on it. Not a good search picture. That should be image #2 or #3 of the many shots of that item you can attach in the listing.

Image #1 should just make them want to click it.

I guess I can start another topic on Etsy and get the feedback again to make a listing here with sample ideas of what Etsy is looking for to get a front page listing!

Status: online 		Shannon, I wanted to come back here again to thank you for posting that link. I love how it gathers and summarizes the view and favorite information. 

I always thought that my shop was just lost in the "Sea of Etsy", so it is really heartening for me to go and see that people actually do visit my shop every day and actually do click on items even if they haven't favorited them.

Status: offline 		Just seen this and wanted to add about photos for the treasurys,the same thing applies,if i ever get over the sickies and can get to make some again.
But when i make one up the full page photo of paintings are the best,no backgrounds showing if possible,or with jewelry,to be displayed on pretty silk or somthing that showes it off and full page setting.
It really does make a big difference.
