That's great Donna, sorry it took so long to respond!

I need to send reminders to a bunch of people... they keep says they are working at it and will be by soon... but haven't!

We'll see!

I'm trying to get those 15 finishers for the extra prize!

Ok everyone!!! This is coming up fast!!! So is everyone ready? Still working on those projects?

I am probably going to open a new thread for finished pieces to submit... so keep an eye out for the post. That's where we'll be judging your piece from the finished photos.

I want to share some inspiration with everyone! These are statues created by local highschool kids made from 100% recycled items/trash and we entered into a contest at the state fair. They however HAD to chose an animal to do. Get inspired!!!

This one was my favorite I saw, it came in 2nd place I do believe:

As promised I have some more Wip pictures of my Eco project.

I'm attempting to make a mosaic/collage/wall hanging. LOL

I started by sketching onto some left over cardboard my basic design. Then I used the scrap piece of black felt to fill in the background.

Then, as I pointed out to Shannon this morning, things got sticky, very sticky. Can you tell what that middle part is suppose to be?

And here is where I'm at now:

I'm going to use some Hemp thread, if I can find it, to hang the final piece. For now I'm using ordinary embroidery thread.

Will post some more Wip pics next week before the final piece is due.

Great, Amanda.  I can tell what that is supposed to be.....a creek between river stones, right?  Really clever!

Yep, that's it.  Still a lot to fill in - the stones and a couple critters too.

I think it might end up being so ugly that it's beautiful in a strange, quirky way. LOL

Amanda:

That's very cool what you're making. You actually just reminded me of an artist that I came across in Philly... she cuts up credit cards and makes them into art. It's cool stuff. http://www.amyorr.net/

Sure. I'm glad I saw her in person, because I got to see how she does it. She actually sews the plastic onto fabric... as if it were a sequin or a flat bead. It's interesting. If modge podge continues to vex you, you could try something like that, but that would mean you'd have to switch to a fabric or canvas background, and then I don't know what you would do with the stones. :)

Yeah, that's a little too much work for me. Besides getting a little messy is fun!

Thanks Shannon. When I first started I had no idea what I was going to create with all that "stuff." So it just sat there for a week before it hit me! LOL

Kewl effect Amanda gives great texture :D

Here are some WIP pix of my stuffs.

first I cut the trash bag (not one used for trash but to transport my clothes from old house to new house) in a giant spiral so I have a long black plastic string.

I then used a daisy maker from the 70's to make a trash bag daisy.

my original plan came off super tacky lol so I had to rework my idea a bit.

originally the daisy was going to be a pin, with the letter from the keyboard in the center - but the proportions were way off and it looked "badly recycled" so I dug up a small oval box to throw into the mix. It's one I was gifted but hasn't really fit anything so far creatively till now.

I took off the hardware and I'm painting it black.....

I'm also drilling 4 holes in the bottom for the feet but more on that later...don't wanna give it ALL away.

Needs a second coat on the outside. Not going to paint the inside as I have a something special for that I found also that's perfect.

I'm really hopin I can get this done by the deadline lol *crossin fingers*
