Status: offline 		A snack bag you can just wash with your clothes and hang dry before you use again. No need for those plastic baggies the get thrown away and wasted!

A simple velco strip keeps them closed.

This is Zoe's first one with a duck, I've also made one with a plum and I'm working on a chicken right now. I think these are going to make awesome gift for my friend's with kids. I'm turning everyone I know into a tree hugger!!!

Status: offline 		Not only is it cute, but Zoe easily opens and closes it all by herself to keep the dog out of her treats! Not as tricky as those plastic sliding bags.

Status: offline 		You know a good model is hard to find, but I got the cutest in the industry who's happy to work for animal crackers!!! 

I saw these for sale in a couple places and wanted some, but couldn't afford them (OMG expensive!) so I decided to make them... then I notice that almost 2 months ago I got my fall copy of the Magazine Mother Earth News and it was in that magazine, I just totally flipped through the page and didn't read all the detail on it. They just didn't say how they made theirs.

I need to start making patterns, maybe one I could put in a printable file and share with you guys. This was super easy!

I used insulated fabric lunch bags for BJ and those were kewl!! These days there is good insulation material that is pretty thin so such items don't have to be particularly bulky or stiff.

Another possibility, Shannon - is reusable shopping bags! :) One Christmas I made a set of six (hand painted) for each of the families on my list. Patterns for something like that would be easy! :)

Status: offline 		I found a pattern for reusable grocery produce bags!!! They are to replace those clear plastic bags you put your veggies in at the store. They also say EXACTLY the kind of fabric you can use for the fruits/veggies can breath and the store clerks can see transparently inside the bag. It has it where you can even attach a draw string.

My bags, and those produce bags are NOT good for long term storage. But you really should switch over to tupperware to store things as home in the fridge.

I always found that Tupperware was good for storing some things and horrible for storing others (sped up the rotting processes)

What sort of fabrics are they recommending?? I would think cotton would be one of them! :)

Status: offline 		Oh yes, 100% preshrunk cotton. Its going to get a lot of washings!

I used muslin for mine, its good and breathable. Cutting at 7" square and sewing the seam at no more then 1/4" gives you a nice sandwich size. Smaller and larger bags are great for little snacks, or taking along fruit on a car trip.

This set below are actually a set of produce bags to get your apples/pears/celery/lettuce/onions/ect when you are at the super market rather then using their plastic produce bags.


There is also a set in the Eco Challenge I am giving away!! What fun... go look!
