When did I start this thing? April! It's almost done. Here are a few progress shots. I have to add some beads around the edges on one side because I made one side slightly bigger than the other. Then bend it into a cuff shape and it will be done. This was really fun to make since I only did it while I watched t.v. It looks like it weighs 10 pounds, ha ha. I also have to trim off the wire endings.

Hi Theodora:

I was trying to guess at how many hours I actually put into it and maybe somewhere between 20 - 40 hrs. When I first started it, I thought that I'd make several of them in different colors. As much as I like this one, now I'm tired of making this style and want to move on. So nooooo, I won't be parting with this one :)

This is beautiful! So the way it works is you bead thinner wire & then wrap it around the armature?

Vicky: You're exactly right, that is how it is done. The thin wire is 24 ga. craft wire and it goes through seed beads. The armature is 18 ga craft wire. I will tell ya all that it really sucked up the wire - here is a picture of the back and you'll see what I mean. But it was still FUN to make, I enjoyed every minute of it, but my hands are sore from all that wrapping!

I finally got the Big Gaudy Bracelet done. I checked when I'd first posted this and it was April 4, 2009. So it took all summer! Not that I'm always that slow, but summer happened along the way. Anyway, I'm glad I finally got this done. It looks good with jeans and also got to use some of grannie's vintage buttons. I guess I'll have to post a second time to show the back of it. Here's the front:

Hi Donna: Thanks :) No, the back isn't lined. I twisted the wire ends and wrapped them into the inside of the bracelet so there are no ends poking out, it's all smooth, just metal. It's definitely not as heavy as it looks either. It was fun to work on.

It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I love love LOVE it! For what it's worth...I never do any bigger projects in summer either! It's just too hard to work on them long enough to get going on any progress. April till now isn't so bad in that respect!
