Chili Pepper Necklace It sounded like a fun idea but I really didn't have much in the way of holiday trimmings since I don't decorate anymore. I do put up lights and nic nacs and a candles and a small table top tree that my friend Val made for me, but that's about it. What on earth could I use for the challenge? Surely I couldn't let a little thing like no materials stop me! This morning I spied the chili pepper garland hanging around my kitchen window! It doesn't just hang there over the holiday's, it hangs there year round and goes with my kitchen theme of fruit and vegetables. The garland wasn't always a kitchen embellishment though. Once upon a time I did actually go through all of the holiday rituals, including decorating a tree. Since I like chili peppers, this strand of pepper garland would adorn my tree along side chili pepper lights. Ooops I'm getting away from myself here reminiscing...I gave alot of my Christmas decorations away and tossed everything but the nic nacks and the tree that Val made, but I couldn't part with strand of wooden chili peppers. They were repurposed to the kitchen window, and because of this challenge, they are now my new Christmas necklace! I don't think they will go back into the window, I like them better as this necklace. Besides, they collect dust in the window! I will have to tell my friend Val that I desecrated the beautiful tree she made me and I'm not looking forward to that. I hope she will forgive me but the chili peppers needed some bling and while looking for something suitable to use for the challenge, I peeled the wire and tinsel garland from my table top tree for this necklace. Well I guess the tree could use an update next holiday season anyway. The necklace is about 36 inches long, a continuous strand that I wired together with craft wire and then embellished with wired tinsel garland. Would I wear this necklace? In a word, yes.
