It's a "Draw What You See" challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to - drum roll please, to look at something and draw it! Before you get carried away scanning the room for something suitable, I should tell you that I get to pick what it is you will be drawing.

For this challenge you are to draw the container from which you drink the most. It could be your favorite coffee mug, the water bottle you keep on your desk, a favorite glass - wine, tumbler or otherwise, just as long it is the vessel you most often drink from.

This is a basic challenge so your tools are going to be basic - pencil and paper. The pencil can be a high end drawing pencil or a #2 Ticonderoga. If you choose to use a coloured pencil, please only use one colour. The paper type is up to you. Whatever is handy will work just fine.

This challenge will run until 11:59 PM, December 17th. This is 11:59 Pacific Time so that those who live on the west coast won't have a 9 PM deadline.

All those interested in participating, entries are to be posted on the Drawing Challenge I thread in Drawing and Illustration.

If you have any questions you can ask here, via PM or email me at edu@ebsqart.com

-Melissa

How about expanding the drawing tool to one-color dry drawing medium? I like Conte crayon, it's one color and it's almost like pencil... If you stick with pencil, is it OK to use more than one grade? I usually use at least 2, HB and 4B for example.

In my defense I work 50 hour weeks and have 2 pre-schoolers.

And if Bill gets prodded into doing anything for the group, it'll be code, not art.  He's what you call an anti-social computer guy who occassionally borrows his wife's paint for laughs.

LOl.. I understand, but we all need to take a break every now and then and just create!  It helps keep us sane (or as sane as we are... might be a loosing battle on my end, but I'm trying )

Hey guys - there are going to be regular challenges so there will all kinds of opportunities to use all manner of media. These challenges will be focusing on different things. If one is not to your liking, all you have to do is wait for the next one. I do hope people will consider working in a way they usually don't. Like I said in the general Drawing Challenge thread, these challenges are to be exercises, not finished art pieces so no pride is on the line.
