1. Find a vinyl toy (doll or otherwise) which is either a reclaimed item ie. thrift store or dollar store.
Something that would otherwise end up in the trash.

2. Turn it into something original, and preferably outlandish. Turning a doll into a prettier doll is great but lets see how far we can take this.

feel free to use ANY vinyl/plastic toys , use more than one combine them in new and interesting ways ! Create Mythical monsters, create you own self portrait, create the toy you always wanted but knew was too weird to ever be manufactured!

The doll/toy does not need to be free standing it can be mounted on a background if necessary.

Here's mine ( although she isn't eligible for choosing, just an attempt to get he ball rolling)

Ok, got my first one done on Monday and posted in my EBSQ profile last night. I was so excited to get it up; I rushed to the coffee house after work. Got off work at 5pm, got home at 5:40, got to the coffee house at 5:50 (they close at 6pm!!)

The most difficult thing on this doll was the moving joints. I had to move the arms around to get the clothes on, and by doing so, the joints rubbed the paint and primer off when I moved them back. So I had to then carefully re-primer the area scrapped clean and repaint. I don’t know why, but they make the boy models different than the girl models. I also had to do something with the “Ken” logo on the jacket, so I came up with the custom “ZN” for “Zombie Nation”. I think “Zombie Nation” will become a new line for me, as I love the photo opportunities for these distinguished characters. So without further ado, I bring you:

“ZOMBIE NATION: GIRL PRETTY”

Here, our hero, a lovable and honorable Zombie boy, met the girl of his dreams, the only problem; another Zombie already had his eye on her. Knowing this other Zombie’s unfavorable reputation with the ladies, our hero did the only thing a gallant Zombie could do. The dispute had to be settled with an old fashioned duel! In Zombie Nation, chivalry is not dead, it’s just un-dead!

After a long battle, our young attractive hero emerged victorious! He had won the head, if not the heart of the damsel of his dreams. Together, they will un-live happily ever after, at least until her brains pass through his digestive track!

Our hero sports a classy, retro jacket with the "Zombie Nation" (ZN) designer logo. Even the fallen would be suitor sports the ZN logo on his belt buckle.

Zombie Nation is a mysterious world, full of proud, gallant zombies. Very few humans truly understand their diverse and complex culture. I hope you have enjoyed this brief glimpse into their complicated society!!

OMG!!! Joe that is so INTENSE! LOL! It's great.

I know just how you feel about the excitement. I was so excited doing
this, but not sure it turned out as good as I think..still have those
altered eyeglasses on.

So, I found a few tiny little broken baby dolls from probably the 1950's
or 60's. The type for a dollhouse. I have to turn everything into jewelry,
so made a necklace.

I knew I wanted to put chain through the armholes, but when I tried, the doll's face flipped over..law of gravity. The chain as legs balances this out and keeps it straight. Those are snappy feet. I made a pair of earrings to match. Very long earrings..figured anyone who wears this necklace isn't going to want timid earrings.

Thanks for the challenge! This was fun!

LOL I JUST REALISED SOMETHING!!! I didn't notice when I posed them, the decapitated damsel's head, in the first photo, looks like she is looking up adoringly at her "hero". Ahhh, it is true love!!

My second entrie, the "Alien Troll Doll". This is a huge (5 to 6 inch tall) Troll Doll that was in sad shape and only $0.50 cents at the thrift store. I knew he has to saved, so I snatched him up, let him sit in my Alien Cacoon for a decent gestation period, and out he emerged, reborn!!!

My third (and last entry), "Not the Kitty". This was a childs drink cup handed out at Disney's on Ice Monsters Inc, and after seeing the horns and watching Hell Boy (the first one as a refresher to the second), I became inspired. Two days latter, a demon was born! Not just any demon, but a fun loving, cuddly, furry demon!!

Playing with his nickname, "Kitty" in the movie, and the "Not the Mama" phrase from the old tv show dinosours, I came up with the name "Not the Kitty" (for vegetarians, kinda like not-chicken, but not really.....)

He is no longer functional as a drink cup, as the lid was inadvertantly glued down with oversprayed primer. This is probbably a good thing, as I don't think the primer and paint would be a safe media to drink from. You might end up mutating into "Not the (Insert your name)"!

alissa and I might need until the end of november as well. My doll is primered and got a haircut but roy just sucks up my time when he is here so I have been slow to finish it. Alissa is working on a barbie remake and I got a brat doll that was missing accoutriments and had a torn box so was sold as is.

Is there any way to extend this one week? I don't want to upset anyone that was able to make the deadline so if not I understand

Oh great, I had checked my doll tonight and 24 hours later there are still a couple of places the primer has not dried. I am aching to trick her out. Alissa will not tell me what she is doing with barbie
