That happens.  My personal button-pusher lives on the forums, too.

Think about it:  eBay forums are free, and people who don't have much of a social life (like.. um.. me. ) spend a lot of time there.  Silly things assume an importance that's way out of proportion to the reality of the situation.

I dislike the fact that a forum grudge can so easily lead to auction interference.  But so far, it's a fact.  Vendetta is common.

Amie will this be a problem now with Ebay? I want to relist on this week and if they pull my auction I could lose my account being I have a warning already when I was having a war with ebay during the katrina listings. I dont want to lose my account...should I just remove that link?

this has been going on, on and off with eBay, for years. the link is legal per ebay's own rules. ebay has confirmed as much with us, multiple times, in the past. i don't expect this time to be any different.

I have not heard back from ebay regarding the "violation".

Out of principle, I am reluctant to remove the link from the listing.  I have successfully sold thousands of items on ebay, but I've never encountered more B.S. than with trying to sell artwork, even if 50% goes to charity.

i haven't heard back, either, other than the receipt that acknowledged that my question was received.

and i have to add that ebay is not very "vendor" friendly. looking over their site map, it's damned near impossible to figure out what their rules for service vendors, such as ourselves, other image hosts, etc, actually are.

tis a pain in the tookis.

here's what i got from eBay this morning:

Hello Amie,
Thank you for writing to eBay with your concern.
The policy for Third Party Credits has not changed and your logo would not be considered a violation on a listing. While I cannot give any information about your client's account, I can say that the issue has been resolved.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Regards,
Royal

Victory is at hand!  Thanks for your help Gillie!!!

here is the response from ebay if anyone is interested:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay with your concern.

It appears that the representative who spoke to you thought that the
link was a regular link rather than a third party credit, and that is
why you received the notice. Upon further review of the information
that you have provided, as well as the listing involved, I have
determined that the alert that you received was indeed issued in error.
I have updated your account so that this information will not be
regarded in the future. Please accept our sincerest apology for any
inconvenience or confusion that this may have caused.

glad you got an actually apology!

and really, how bloody hard was it to figure out that our link is a third party credit? eBay *really* needs to train their people better. it's never a good thing, particularly in a company the size of eBay, when folks aren't all on the same page regarding customer service, rules, etc.

::lets out sigh of relief::

YAY FOR VICTORY!!!

They don't mind issuing apologies; it's cheaper than a lawsuit.

You're right, Amie.. they really do need to train the front-line monkeys better.  It says a lot when something so simple has to get kicked up to the next line of supervisors (at the least) to get resolved.

I had that issue with abbreviating Freshwater Pearl: FW Pearl. They were wrong and apologized each time, but it got to be such an obnoxious hassle - I just use the word Pearl in the subject and describe it further in the body.

Someone brought this up to me on another forum. They said my EBSQ template was in violation of EBay rules. I take it from this thread that this is incorrect I hope? Elisa

EBSQ has been providing authorized third-party credit services on eBay since 2001. Your template is NOT in violation unless you're adding things like outside links that aren't built into it.

Here's eBay's current 3rd party credit rules:
