Everyones heard of the SILVER SURFER, but few people realise he had a lesser known half brother. Though not as popular as his Silver brother, the BRONZE SURFER had a following all his own, even if his family rarely talked about it....

THE BRONZE SURFER!!!

This is a bronze statue in Cardiff that when I drove by and saw what "vandals" had done, I had to pull over and take a picture. I saw a "Surf Camp" for teenagers set up nearby, so I thought maybee they had done this in the middle of the night. Then I mentioned it to a friend that lives near there, he said nope, it wasn't the surf camp. This guy has been getting dressed up on random nights for over 10 years, and no one has ever been caught doing it! I wish I lived closer, I'd photo-document his ever changing wardrobe!!

LOL! my friend Karen sent this to me - she's a surfer-chick and her sons are pros and live down there and every surfer hates this sculpture! too funny that you posted this - love it!

i haven't visited the POTD in a while - wonderful photos - a feast for the eyes!

Very intersting image and story with so much commentary on the surfer!  I never would have heard about it if it wasn't for this place, which is why I love it so!

Sam has nice weeds and rocks, Olga has some nice weeds, very pretty!
Carolyn, your power lines could be a magazine photo, very nice!  Kevin love the desk this week and Lisa, nice shot of the shiny hydrant!

My sign of the week, from guess where....

Tom's burned down bar on Madeline island, of course!

Sam great macro of tiny tiny little rocks. Photo's are so great at letting us see thing we may never notice otherwise. Steph great sign...LOL.  Kevin *THUD*....Passion flower? Your compostition is wonderful, I'm used to seeing them from the top. I enjoy seeing a different view. We don't have them around here. What we do have is Sunflowers. The are everywhere, mostly in ditches and fields that are over grown.

Wow, Kevin, the color in that...and the composition is very nice...but what is it...flower??

Lisa, that is an amazing sunflower.  It is amazing not only for the composition, but those colors!!!!!! Wow!!

I tried a little Sepia tone on this one...........and took a bit from Sam's book on photographing the mundane....

C *THUD*.....I LOVE that image. Excellent compostion, the sepia tone is just perfect, the texture is drop dead gorgeous. Art!

As a side note on my sunflower. I often saturate colors in photoshop. I was so pleased that this one is straight from the camera. I also used that image for Karla's business cards.

Thank you, Lisa.  I was a bit unsure about the image, so your comments are most welcome!!

I think your image would make wonderful business cards, Karla is most lucky!!

Steph, love your boats...or is it ships?....they are amazing, the size and all.  I like the colors in this one, also.

Carolyn

Trust your own eye C. It is excellent. I'm glad to see you stepping outside of your comfort zone. I think what I really like about your image is that you took something like seashells (usually done on a beach or a colorful something) and you put it on a texutre that is unusal. The ball....who would think? Not me, but if works perfectly within the composition to add unexpected interest.

Here's mine for the day, following Steph's boat! This is one of the old ships in San Diego, there are two, The Star of India, and I don't know the name of the other one, they have it right next to The Star of India.

I took so many pics that day of both ships sails, that I forgot wich sails belong to which ship LOL......
