thanks everybody... I was in San Francisco so it made it hard to take pictures of her...  but here she is after a week of aging:

I had bought some eyes for her but I think they might be too small for her sockets...  off to search for others!

(it looks like she forgot her dentures!)

okay, the doll is done and I've been gone for a while...  but I took pictures (mostly) along the way so I'll still do the wip....

so here is the mess of fabric, wax string and glass beads I used to make her ghastly garb (dress and cape):

I didn't feel like re-inventing the wheel so I used a drawing model for her body and just wrenched off the head and hands.  I painted the frame black (of course!) and cut a pattern to make the dress.  That is... after I modified the frame to include her womanly attributes:

BEWBIES (the color of the pom poms were picked for your enjoyment):

these were glued pretty close to her waist, lol!

and then her posterior, also glued woefully low on her figure:

I once posted something that was too long so I'm going to break this up into smaller bits so I don't have to keep reposting, lol!

Annnyyyway, When her clothing was all stiched up, complete with painfully old fashioned rushing and a high lace collar, I thought it was far too tidy for a proper witch.  I dunk the whole outfit into the silver powder that is used for polishing rocks (my rock polisher broke, an entirely different subject.)  I let it dry outside (twice, I left it through a rain storm) and it seemed suitably filthy.

a rear view (good thing this is just a witch doll and not the real thing... could get in trouble for such an unflattering photo)  You can also see where I sewed the dress onto her.

her shoes are black flannel that have been coated with enough lacquer to look very uncomfortable.  The laces are waxed cord.  You can see a bit of her black petty coat sticking out from under her dress in the picture, too.

Her hair... what a pain.  I took wool felt (or the wool you make felted stuff with... I don't know - the stuff I bought so I could play with Jeanne's tutorial) and blended together grey, black, yellow and white.  I stiched the fibers together and then used wood glue (thanks Jeanne) to stick the mess to her head.  Still, it looked too fluffy so I slathered her with styling gel, olive oil, and dish soap until her hair was matted with that "fresh-off-the-broom" look.

I'll take a better picture later, maybe stage her over a group of cowering barbies...

I also started a little buddy for her, or minion, whatever.  A Halloween witch needs company, too.

he required lots of glue and tooth picks....

Oh my goodness Lisa, she is absolutely perfect!!!  But then again, wht would we expect from you?  My kids are fascinated with her, too.  Her gard is just beautiful, too.  ( it hink you could have left her pristine clean, but a guess ratty garb suits that ugly...err...I mean, beautiful, weathered face better.  How long did it take the apple to dry?  Also, what is her friend made of?  (I miss you)
