Poll Question: Have you sold something due to being highlighted in a treasury?
(choose all that apply)

As a selling tool do you think it's worth the time and effort to participate in creating/commenting/& clicking.

Splain it baby!

I sold an order for two prints that way - all because of a treasury.

that's my only double sale because of one.

I've sold bigger ticket (over 100.00) items there when I was going at it hot and heavy with the treasuries and particpating/listing more often.)

I have gotten a small commission out of a treasury as well.

Do I think it's worth it -  well when i was doing it hot and heavy, yes. It's much harder now for me to snag them and I'm so out of touch with things over there, it would take me a bit to make it more worth my while. It would bring people to my store even if I wasn't in the treasury. So overall yes. BUT there does come a time when it can become obsessive. LOL

I did sell one ACEO print ($6) due to a treasury.  I have been in many many treasuries so it is not worth it for me as far as sales go, unless someone marked me to buy from at a later date, and have no way of knowing that.

I look at treasuries as a fun project, and yes a lot of people do sell from them, plus artists do get a lot of exposure so in that sense yes it is worth it.

Until Ebay went crazy that was the place where I sold the most items.

I have been so busy with other things that I haven't been even checking Etsy much, much less participating. But I can say that my sales WERE much more consistent when I was looking at and commenting on lots of treasuries. The curators would check out my shop and feature my work and things were seen a lot more. Of course, some of it could have to do with the season. When I was really working it was pre-Holiday time.

BUT....I definitely think keeping your store fresh and participating in the treasuries, either through commenting or creating your own, is worthwhile. Especially if Etsy is your main sales venue!

hmmm - well I'm sure that being in and commenting on other treasuries did help to make me more visable and I have had a number of sales on Etsy - I don't recall any of them being directly because of being in a treasury.

I do think it helps! :)

I haven't been in many treasuries....a few and have never had a sale from one.  I do however, click and comment on the treasuries posted here & elsewhere, although I don't have time to come back here and report that I did so.

I have bought several items from treasuries.

I find that you do have to "work" Etsy to get sales. Reposting items and being in a treasury have both sold items at my shop. You gotta be seen!
What I like about treasuries is they get me to other people's shops even when I've been lazy. I've found some very nice art that way.

no sales at all due to treasury (:-))

I was very active a few weeks, then on trip these last weeks, but I was wondering, doubting, so your question here and now, Kris, is very very interesting !!! I ll continue, but,...

strange. I think a daily care of the shop (reposting, renewing etc.) brings much more visits and potential sales

BUT treasury = possibly (?) relationship, care

treasury for sales-increasing, now, after a while, I think no... at least no more than a good shop-maintenance,
because the number of views is not so dramatical compared to the views coming if re-posting etc.

exposure = ?
...unless our line, in the treasury, would come to the "hot"-colours (but now it means hundreds of clicks, as far as I could see huge groups acting there)
... that would mean that we would be a huge group, clicking regularly on them - which we do-, but we are just a few fellows there (:-))

if this is worth the time and effort, dunno, before all, right, they are time-spending, difficult to catch

I ll try to continue to do some more anyway, but probably not so intensively

my best hope was : treasury and possible exposure on homepage
but
I never saw how they pick one treasury to put it on the homepage,
that WOULD bring something.
but how do they decide ?

so what do you think we should do, Kris ?

I know I've had many more hits because of them...so, I'm sure some of my sales are from them also...just not sure how you tell...

I love to look at them though...I've also found some wonderful things that way....there are so many sellers on Etsy that it gets overwhelming sometimes so looking at treasuries helps to find cool stuff...

I've done a few featured things, where pay to have a link to your store very visible at certain times and days...and I don't think I've had any response from those at all..so I stopped doing it...

I think treasuries bring traffic which is always good, but I have not had any direct sales because of a treasury.

I agree.  Both of my sales were to people that I did not know previously, and I don't know how they found me, but I think the treasuries make me more visible...hits go up.

do you think multiple sale venues are a plus?

I personally have three etsy, ebay, my own website - it hleps me get picked up in searches more often and look IMPORTANT lol - hsamefully they are all neglected at this point in time.

I've sold consistently on all three. (when i keep things up )

keeping fresh is VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!

Yes this is one main factor in sucess on etsy...being seen!!!!........it has even made some people relist their items DAILY (at 20 cents a pop) just so they show up in the time machine/just listed/ rotating doo-hicky on the front page/and on the front page of searches....

it is hard work and listing something once a week won't do it.

maybe that is true - but it is easier to get a treasury than it is to load 50 new itmes in your store a week...lol

hmm it might come in handy if we started posting when we are featured on our blogs/websites much like stacie rose did. with a link provided - that would bring our own personal outside traffic in and some new possible patrons to etsy. (?)

----------

if this is worth the time and effort, dunno, before all, right, they are time-spending, difficult to catch

I have seen one of ours make it to the front page, no doubt in my mind they have go to people who consistenly do good treasuries. Eclectic Elements (Sam) got one up there  - we have an print screen of it so we can remember it

as for what we should do dunt know but we can always try new things......LOL

so lets get a game plan together!!!!

How I do it or did it back in the day is I searched daily for my stuff in treasuries..............now i know what's featured, it sells during the life of the treasury - chances are           because of the treasury.

it took alot of time and I HATE that we can't trrick out our pages there with HTML ect./counters

Featured honestly, never tried it/but when they started offereing it - it left a bad taste in my mouth - much like featured auctions on ebay ANother way to make money. greedy.

I get some sales off of Etsy and some useful contacts - both with a minimum amount of effort.

I've never met anyone who has heard about it before I tell them about it. Seems like most of the sales are between the people that have shops on there (starving artists buying from other starving artists) - not totally true - I've had a few sales to people who had no shops at all.

And very clever, Kris - having been missing in action so much, replying to each of our posts is a good way to get your post count up! lol!!! (JOKING!!!)
