My Poodle beads seem to be a very popular item so it is a great thing that I just love to make them!  I like making dog beads in general and although I don't have poodle dogs I find they are my favorite dog bead to make.  It is fun to watch them come alive!

How my lampwork Poodles are born! 



Start with a wad of glass wound on a steel mandrel dipped in bead release so it the bead won't stick...

Add more glass in different places on the original footprint until it starts to look like a dog!

The rest of the work is too detailed and there is no way I could possibly take photos at the same time!  At least now you all have an idea of how a Poodle bead is born!

Oh, now see, I had my idea all wrong.  I thought that first the Momma Poodle and the Daddy Poodle meet.....oh never mind.  That's different....

Wonderful little pooches!  Maybe Holiday poodles will become one of your signatures!

OHHHHHh Donna!  You really do not want me to get into the breeding aspect of the warm fuzzy kind of Poodle, lol.  I'll stick to glass dog breeding 101.  Hmmm, maybe I should make a poodle family!  I know!  A fluffy looking baby poodle!  A PINK one!  lol....

Gee, that looks interesting....I didn't realize your flame was such a torch and from all that your able to make such adorable little beads!!  Wow.

Do you use both hands, one to hold the torch and little rod thingie? Or is one of them still? Fascinating[:)]

Hey Carolyn and Dawn, Lisa and Robin!  Thank you all and yes it is big fun to make Poodles.  Lord knows it took me long enough to learn and I am finally to the point I am usually happy with how they turn out. 

Robin, I don't think I better pound on them though they are glass, lol.  [;)]

Dawn, the mess I work in is a sore spot but when I clean it up and put things away then I can't grab things if suddenly I have a whim.  Everythng better be close by or I have to save it for the next bead.  Yous looks like that too?  COOL!  [:D]

Lisa, for the most part that is a two hand process.  There is a short while where I need to twirl the bigger globs, like when I took the couple of pictures but usually it is a mandrel in one hand and a rod of glass or a stringer or tool in the other. 

he he Carolyn!  I am beginning to think the Poodles are adorable too, I must be getting the hang of it.  Gee, it's about time I have practicing them for what seems like an eternity!

Well that bushy flame is the bane of my existence right now.  When I get my big girl torch the flame will be hotter and be more refined.  The little hot head beginner torch I am using now is hard to control where the bushy flame goes because it is so big and then it isn't really that hot so the beads take a lot more time. That, or they melt everything in their path so detail work is very hard.  Bigger torches that use oxygen will also make glass colors do magical tricks depending on the fuel/oxy mixture but I haven't been able to play with that stuff yet.  Soon I hope!

Thanks Muriel and Heather!  When I get my big girl torch and other toys I will post some pics of all of that.  Gosh my work area is a mess!  Hmmm...should I build some  pendants or straighten the mess?  Guess what wins! LOL...Hint: the work area will only look worse before it looks better cause I am using all those colors and more right now [;)]).

Steph, workplaces are supposed to have everything out and at hand!  They are also meant to be a mess!  I paint, and my table is always a mess, but if I need a brush or a certain color it is right there and I don't have to start digging for it.  It isn't really a "mess", it is just your tools and the things you need out.....

Love the poodles, looks like my toy poodle PomPom Jaque that I had years ago, he was white with really black little eyes and nose.  Keep those beads coming.....

Oh!  And of course you will start pendants instead of wasting your precious time doing tidying up....LOL

Hi HRM!!!  I feel so much better about my mess now, lol.  I didn't  do anythng towards working on straightening up anythng in the room today but soon I really need to do a little arranging.  Away with the Haloween colors at least! 

I have a new poodle all ready and a party penguin and some snow people all ready to go which is what I did instead of clean my work area so you are spot on!
