Thanks, Nellie!

Jeanne- they're SO cute!!!  :)

I hope everyone's projects are coming along nicely.  I haven't had a lot of time to work on mine but I will be done by the deadline!!  :)  Her head is done and I sculpted her torso this morning.

Forget it - I can't possibly make the deadline with this.

I'm gonna make 'em anyway, though...

Ooh, mine are getting sooo close (yes, plural -- two characters from the same, rather obscure, tale)!   I'm just a little stuck now because they are made from paper clay/paper mache, and the weather has turned cool/cloudy with a high dewpoint -- the absolute worst drying conditions (twidling thumbs)....

Ahhh, my pieces for the show are finally bone dry.  On to the gesso and the painting of them (although it's going to be a way busy weekend for me -- will squeeze this in if it kills me!)....

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the moderator and ebsq for issuing this fun challenge.  I've really enjoyed working on my entries  -- and I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten around to creating them on my own without the theme as inspiration, plus the little 'push' of deadlines and such.  Thanks again!

Patience!  I am so excited hearing you talk about your entries!  And you are welcome!  I feel the anticipation in your voice and it's exhilarating!  Running for the finish line!  I'm STILL working on Cinderella!  Don't you love the last minute "OH MY GOD, am I going to make it??"  I work weekend nights (12 hr shifts) and had planned to have her done by yesterday but I still have a ways to go.  She WILL be done and posted tomorrow.  Sleep or no sleep.  I finished sculpting her last night so now I need to paint and wig her and put her dress on her.  Sigh.  I hope to make great headway today but I'm sure it won't be finished/posted until tomorrow.  I love themes/contests.  :)  Well, time's a-wasting!  I just wanted to check in.  I am so anxious to see the entries!

Hugs!
Loretta

Oy, Loretta -- 12 hour weekend shifts!  Well, whew -- I have nothing to complain about -- much luck to you!

Indeed, both my pieces will be posted here by tomorrow at the latest, come hell or high water.  They are two characters from the same story, and it's one of the more obscure tales.  For anyone interested, I chose 'The Seven Ravens':  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Ravens

Hey Kris, just set my Grimm dolls aside for a mo' to work further on my Elvis peice, as I have every intention of getting that up in here as well.  And here's extending big thanks to you as well for mod'ing the Elvis Challenge -- these both have been really good for me this month...!

WHEW!!!  I MADE IT!  LOL  Geez, I was getting really worried.  I work 12 hr weekend shifts and luck was on my side and the final details on Cinderella went very smoothly.

A little about her:  She's hand-sculpted in polymer clay on a wire armature and painted with Genesis paints.  Her eyes are Masterpiece eyes, her hair is hand-dyed Tibetan lamb hair.  I sewed and beaded her costume myself.  She is poseable at her elbows and knees so she can actually sit down.  :)  I may do a hair-do and headpiece for her before listing her on eBay but I was simply out of time.  The pumpkin is removeable.  Thanks for looking at her!

Hugs!
Loretta

Here is my entry for the Doll Challenge, based on the Grimm tale, The Seven Ravens.  She stands about 11 inches tall, and is constructed entirely from papier mache....

Another view of her (sorry, it wont let me put more than one file per post). Please note her poor missing finger:

My second entry accompanies the first, as they are both characters of the same tale.  He is constructed entirely of papier mache as well:

And here are the two entries together (please note that that is a big spot of glare on the crow's all-black face, and *NOT* a big painted eyeball as it rather looks like!!): http://www.ebsqart.com/Artists/cmd_690_profile_portfolio__1_3_G.htm

(oops, wrong link (blushing).  have you guessed by now I'm really computer inept?:  http://www.ebsqart.com/Artists/cmd_690_profile_portfolio__1_4_G.htm)

Thanks to all who participated in the Grimm Challenge!  I know some of you didn't get your projects done so remember there's a Doll & Puppet show in November!

Hugs!
