Thanx everyone!!

On eBay right now, they have an eye in a variety of sizes which is acrylic, & very good quality - VERY real-looking! - & only $3.50 a pair!! VERY affordable, even with shipping which made it come to like $8 or so. I ordered a pair for the "accidental" project I have going that was meant to be - well, 1 of them haha (I'll let y'all know once I have something to show - which rhymes!   ) - now she is going out into the world on a dolly exchange from one of my community boards. I'm slightly worried that they haven't arrived yet, but we'll see - could be any day now (I did write the seller, um!! ).

Just let me get my wire - since doing the one I'm doing now, I can gauge how fast I am working, & it's pretty fast, so - the only snag will be the clothes, which I have envisioned but *gulp* have to MAKE somehow!! hehe

Don't worry, I'll figure it out somehow!!

Mary, good luck on getting all your little ducks in a row!  Aren't deadlines fun!!! LOL  They always motivate me to get to work!  And don't forget the Doll & Puppet show is in November so you can enter your work there as well.  :)

I didn't work on Cinderella at all yesterday.  Spent a solid 10 hrs on that dress on Wed and was sort of sick of looking at it.  The doll's not done yet either.  Uh, she only has a head!!  LOL  So I suppose this afternoon I'll be making some body parts!

Don't know how I manage to miss that yesterday but I did - glad I looked more carefully today!!! :) :)

And it was also fun looking up doll eyes yesterday too - I've never done that before - there's a lot of variety out there! lol!!!

Thank you, Jeanne!  I'm not done with it yet.  Still some embellishing to do.  The doll is about 12".  I'm really pleased with it, other than the fact that I HATE sewing, lol.

And yes, there are LOTS of different eyes out there.  MP are my favorite and what I used in Cinderella.  They're just SO expensive but very realistic.  The eyes in my avatar are glass and not as much, about $10 a pair, but there's only like 5 standard colors available.  Cinderella is my first experiment with MP because they're silicone.  I have to make sure they can stand up to the heat.  I make polymer clay dolls and have to bake them.  So far, so good.  I've baked her head twice and they are crystal clear.  I'm limited to what I can use because of the size I make and because of the heat.  But I have an eye fetish!  LOL

Well, thank you!  You're a sweetheart!  :)  I like BLING!  And this gown will have a lot of that!  hehe  I got these fabrics at Joann's.  I thought they were the perfect Cinderella blue.

Silcon is often used for trivets and hot pads and the like so I would think it would withstand baking with your polyclay - but boy you must be nervous actually doing it!!!

Hope it works perfectly!!!! :)

Well, they don't recommend baking them for longer than 15 min at 275 at a time but I need a 30 min final bake, so [drumroll] we will see.  LOL  I have an artist friend who said she's done well with them.  She just covers them with a moist paper towel while baking.  It's still nerve-racking.  There's 2 days worth of work in her face and if those eyes melt, I'll be crying!

Oh incidentally, I've switched to paper-clay so heat's not an issue for me now.

I really think that you should be fine - they say to drop water onto the eyes before baking.

Mary, I think it will be okay too, or I wouldn't be going to all the trouble.  I'm a little hesitant about using the drop of water on account of getting the moisture in the clay and causing moonies around her eyes.  Her head has had 2 short bakes now though and I would think there's no risk of moonies now and I need it mostly for that long final bake anyhow.
