Nice link!  I have the Grimm's tales and I don't want to misrepresent the topic so I'm going to clarify what I said in the first post.  The Grimm Brothers were, well, GRIM!  The original stories are very different from the stories we grew up with.  I encourage everyone to read the original story they want to depict for some fresh ideas, however, Disney's version of the story is fine too.  Disney has a little more magic, more fairy dust, so to speak.  Grimm's stories are a bit more macabre.  Just good research for your topic.  :)

Thank you all for participating!
Hugs
Loretta

Oh, yea!  I'd like to mention that the Doll Artist Retreat I'm hosting in November is going to be featured Doll Crafter and Costuming Magazine!  YAY!!!!  I'm so excited!  It's turned out to be quite an event!

Tools of Divination is one of the three official monthly shows this month. I personally can't wait to see how it fills out over the course of the month since this was a much requested subject when we took member requests last year.

Okies, I haven't got much time to put something together (I've been away for a while & didn't see this), BUT I am certainly going to give it "the ol' college try" & do my bestest, as this is an art-form I am EXTREMELY keen on getting in on!

+, nobody knows fairy tales like I do anyway...  hehe

...& in addition: may I just ask - are we limited to a SINGLE doll for this? Because mine requires a pair, really - 1 isn't going to be right. 3 would be better, but I think that getting 2 quality pieces (that are really 1 piece) will be quite challenge enough for this gal!!

nope, I don't believe there's a limit. and if you need more than one doll to convey your message, then by all means, go for it!

Feeling optimistic!

I love what I see in my mind - I just hope I can get it to come OUT of there!

I wanted to kind of create a setting of sorts... Is that all right?

I am very excited to see the creations for this show.  I would love to participate, but I have never made anything resembling a doll in my life!  (Okay, a hand sewn, primitive bird Christmas ornament....does that count?  I think my Mom keeps it to embarass me.....)

Cinderella's mouse - Needle felted (my first needle felting project) - coke can is there just to give scale - I'll attempt to get a better photo. Arms are posable - stands without having to rest on his tail. Tail is posable too! :) Fun and I only stuck myself badly once and that was when BJ was reading to me from his Kitten Wars book. :)

Thanks Donna!! :)  Takes a little while to get used to the needle felting and this piece is not felted solid - he's pretty soft. I built an armature out of pipe cleaners and some polyfoam so that I wouldn't be using all my wool just to fill in the body.

This is what the kit I bought was supposed to teach me to make:

I think mine turned out a bit better than that! LOL!!! Jack has named him Ureka (meese spelling)- don't know why. I'm going to try and make a tiny kitty next but I should either finish cleaning my craft room or finish my painting first (but that doesn't mean I will). LOL!!

Thanks Nellie - you mean do a tutorial here for others or did I learn from one?  I still have a lot to learn but once I feel like I have I'd be happy to do a tutorial on needle felting here. :)
