Well, not really a commission.  A donation of sorts.  And a long time coming, but, not really my fault, lol.  Back at Christmas time 2006 (!) my sister-in-law asked if I would donate something for some animal charity auctions she was running on ebay.  So, I told her I would donate a custom pet portrait oil painting.  Well, she ended up buying the auction.

I asked what she'd like done, and then she said she didn't really want an animal portrait for herself, could I do something else for her?  Sure, no biggie.  What do you want?  "how about a nice wine and cheese type still life?"  Ok, so I start searching and thinking up compositions for it.  Then I hear back from her that her future husband (they have since married) didn't want something like that, "wouldn't go with their house".

Ok.  So, what do you want??  I don't hear anything for months and months.  And months.

Then I get an email from my MIL asking about the painting and when will I be doing it?  I said, well, I'm waiting on Jen to tell me what she wants!  lol  Then, a few weeks later, I get an email from Jen, finally, saying she wants something with a great blue heron similar to a painting I gave to my MIL a few years back, to put in their house at the shore.

So, that's what this is, lol!

It's watercolor, watercolor pencils, and soft pastel on watercolor canvas board, 11x14

It is really lovely, Tracey.  Guess which EBSQer will lust after it?

Don't you just love that sort of nonsense with family & friends.  Oh well, all is well that ends well.

yeah, it was just kind of strange, lol.  In the beginning, she did offer to have me do a pet portrait for a friend, but, I felt weird not doing something for her, and, it's not like I haven't done stills.  But, I'm glad to finally have something for her.

Thanks y'all.  I do love great blue herons...I'm looking forward to the spring and summer when I run down by the creek path near my house, and I see them all along there.  Beautiful majestic birds.

wow!  Thanks y'all!  Packed it up and sent it off the other day, so hopefully she will have it soon, and hoping she likes it.

Goregous!  I love the great blues.  I used to have then sitting out my window about 4 feet away from my lake house.  I could watch them feed all day long!
