Hi, I've been a member of EBSQ for a couple of years now, and I just recently started my own art house.  I could really use some help planning community projects or working with artists to complete their own projects or compilation/group exhibits.

I would love to informally discuss some ideas, and I am going to review artists on the site I think might be a good match for some of our existing projects.  If anyone wants to drop me a line and show me their work here, or has any art event ideas, etc, I  would be really happy to hear from them.  Take care!

According to our records, your free patron account was 4 hours old at the time of this post which doesn't exactly lend to credibility, lol. Do you perhaps have an additional EBSQ account under a different user id?

If we're talking exhibits, a location might be helpful too...

Actually yes I did have a former ID-mythology7-Sorry. I didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Love Art House is working with some social arts/entertainment related groups to develop projects in local communities. I want to be able to tie-in several artists works' to each event, across multiple art and music genres, so that people get exposure to many art forms at each event. I am also working with groups and artists to distribute free art supplies to various schools, hospitals, etc.

I want the artists to have a large part in planning our projects so that we can plan top quality events and published works.

Intriguing, but your only post as Mythology7 was to advertise talent scouting. Introducing yourself as a member of EBSQ is kind of misleading, IMHO.

There are many members who don't post at all, that doesn't make them any less members, just members who aren't active on the boards - I don't know that I would call that misleading as he/she didn't claim otherwise. On the other hand, the last login under that ID was the same date as the post (1/31/06) so who knows. I generally like to give people the benefit of the doubt although I've been wrong on occasion.

Anyway, lovearthouse, I assume there's a fee for your services, is that correct?

I'm a bit discouraged by the response. I was too shy to post , but as you can clearly see, I have been looking for ways to help talented people for some time. I thought I had to do it under someone else's umbrella, but I don't need to.

No, Love Art House doesn't charge for services or anything else. It is hard enough these days to be an artist, but enough people aren't pursuing their talents for lack of funds. I don't like that, and if I don't like it, I should help. Just as an ageny would, we retain 9% of revenues, meaning we work hard to create content which draws revenue and attention for the artists working with us. Artists, as they should, keep all rights to their work.

I understand a protective atmosphere, but I am asking, because I am still a person, to please be kind if you do respond to this post. I'm starting to be afraid I posted this:)

Lovearthouse,

Please don't be discouraged, and no reason to be shy here. You do have to understand a lot of members here have seen a lot of art scams out there, and you didn't give many details about your project.

With that said, I googled LoveArtHouse and found your website and find your group to be very interesting. I think your group has a lot of potential to help a lot of artists, and any group that helps promote art to art lovers is great.

For my fellow EBSQers out there, their project is at http://www.lovearthouse.com

I do have some questions/comments

are your projects going to have a physical address or be 100% online?

You said the royalty you keep from sales is 9%, does that mean that if the work is accepted for a project, patrons will have the ability to purchase the work in the show, or are there other venues of sales you're looking at developing for artists in the future?

You ask artists and patrons to send you their details and state you will contact them, and I understand the reasons you may do that. With how many scams there are out there, and how many artists have fallen victem to them, I think offering more detailed information on the website might help ease some peoples minds.

In my honest opinion, and please don't take offense, I get the feeling that you are very excited about this endevor and might have jumped into getting the website set up before having all the details set up on how the projects are going to run. You currently have 10 projects listed with contact info to get involved. If you are truly a new company, like I get the impression you are, then you are definatly taking on a lot at once.

Again, just my opinion, and I do hope your project grows and prospers to the benefit of many many artists.

I don't mean to be discouraging, but there are certainly lots of scams out there. On the internet, it can be difficult to discern between things which are legitimate and things which are not--posting histories, sign-up dates, etc., are one of the only ways to verify people on a message board.

I would feel better if you had come in and introduced yourself, who you are personally, and given explicit details/links to your project, rather than presenting "member of EBSQ for several years" as a credential, since no one seems to know who you are. Not trying to nitpick or run you out of town--just skeptical. It's a rough economy, and we have to be very careful about where our time and work in invested.

But please, don't be discouraged, and tell us more.

lovearthouse,

I'm sorry you misinterpreted my post - I was actually defending you! I admit I threw in a small "disclaimer" but was defending you nonetheless.

I only asked about charging for your services because it seemed (from what you wrote) like the type of services for which the artists would be charged, which would not necessarily be unreasonable considering the investment of your time and resources.

espressojoe & podkaynestudios are correct in that there are a lot of scams out there (usually they'll post once & then disappear) & so it makes sense for us to be cautious. I agree that a link to your site would have been a good idea, at least it's posted now.

Please do tell us more!

Sounds interesting... the name threw me off at first, Love Art House sounding too much like a spin off or copycat of the Art House in Atlanta, GA, which runs a co-op website with projects for artists to participate in. Here you say it is new... but on your website, you have major contributors with Walmart & Target on board so it sounds established. I'm kind of curious. How new is this? Any completed projects yet?
