K.. here's my piece I did.. Not in the running of course.

My piece is inpsired by Janet Fish.. I changed up my traditonal Polish pottery still life series and added in a view to the background..  I have Janet Fish's book and after looking through and seeing her amazing paintings.. I was inspired to set  up this still life.  I didn't copy one of her paintings.. nor did I copy the composition.. I just set up after being inspired by her work.

Of course.. everyone will approach the "inspired by" so differently.. and that is what I'm excited to see!!!  Can't wait to see what ya'll come up with..

whew!!  I'm keeping this one.. I am really pleased with it! Yay!!

  Media:  acrylic
Dimensions:  20x24x1.5
Date of Work:  2007
The 24th in my Polish pottery series was done for the still life challenge I started in the Still Life public forums as an "Inspired by..." challenge. A good artist friend of mine Mary Beth Thorngren turned me to Janet Fish when she saw my love for still life's and painting reflective surfaces and glass. I bought Janet Fish's book and was in awe! I love her work. I did not copy the composition of any of her paintings. I put together this still life after drooling over her book and getting inspired!! Janet Fish's earlier works were contemporary in style. Her paintings often large and painted in bright colors. Her later works she introduced in backgrounds as seen thru a window etc. I thought I'd change up my typical Polish pottery still life and include in a background view with reflections of my chair seen in the glass. I added in some glass with my pottery as Janet Fish painted glass so beautifully. For more on Janet Fish: http://www.artnet.com/artist/6229/janet-fish.html

This is a really great piece, Heather.  I really like the wine glasses and how you did all the reflections!

Why didn't you post the pic in the Abstract picture posting thread??  WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT???.............Not enough coffee that is for sure.....I mean why didn't you start a Still Life thread for people to post their work in starting with yours......?

Or am I not making sense.  I have not had enough coffee...going for more........

Here is my NON entry. I totally blanked on the paint it like you would aspect and just drew inspiration from Picasso and didn't paint it like i would just like he would so here it is but DONT LOOK AT IT. It doesn't count.

7x9 canvas panel ~ "still life with 2 apples"

after Picasso's "still life with skull"

so in my best Chris Farley impression "IDIOT!"

I'm not usre if I will get to do another since I screwed up ....lol sowee. That's what I get for relyin on my memory - instead of checking.

......it was fun thinking outside my own box though.

Kris, I think Heather said we could interpret our inspiration in any way we choose, sort of like our RIPs of each other, right??  So either you could paint something in the style of the artist, or you could paint one of their pieces in your style, or whatever.

Heather will let me know if I am mistaken........

KRIS!!!

Of course that counts!! you were inspired?? were you not??

Love it Kris!!!  silly girl..

Just i think mentioning that you were inspired by someone somehow.. and have a still life.. qualifies it!

Mine was just inspired after looking at Janet Fish's book and how that inspired me..

so many different ways to approaching it.
