Yeah, it's exactly like that. Only completely different.
I've enjoyed just about as much of this as I can stand.

OHH...... I have Dance!!!!!!

This photograph was taken at the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth Minnesota.  Bayfront Blues is a 4 day festival of nonstop blues from morning till night and while the music is winding down, some of the participants seem to be winding up still.   The man in the photograph is someone I have seen dancing at the festival every year, from the beginning to the end of each day.  Even though the crowd can be as large as 25,000 people, you can usually spot him in his tye dye outfit, wildly dancing among the crowd.  For years, he would carry his own dance floor square with him but I don't know what happened with that.

The Sunday night in question, I found myself sitting just chairs away from the wild dancing man.  He had quite the group of friends dancing with him who had as much energy as he, so I couldn't help but grab my camera and try to capture the moment.  For most of the rest of us, after 4 days and nights, our energy was waning.  These people had energy to spare, you can see it in the air!

Energy In The Air

For dancing, you must have music.   I often joke with friends that the reason I needed two hip replacements was because of the many nights of wild dancing I put in back in the day.

Well then...one person to blame for this would be Kim Wilson from the Fabulous Thunderbirds.  Kim is the greatest harp player in the world and seeing him dancing across the stage while hammering out some blues harmonica has the same effect on me even now, as it did 20 years ago...

I took this old scanned photo on the beach in Negril Jamaica about 10 years ago.  This guy would wander the beach each day wearing a crazy outfit and a sandwich board while shouting out news of where the music would be, as the venues changed each evening.  This is the Jamaica I fell in love with.  I haven't seen the sandwich board guy in some years, but things have changed with the advent of the internet.  Nowadays you can fnd out who's playing where from inside your compound.

Some of us take our dancing very seriously.  Some of us go so far as to import our own band from the states and bring them to Negril with us!  Of course, this took a lot of advance planning to get bookings and advertise and such, but the result was so worth it!

There we were, dancing under the stars in our favorite getaway, listening to the croonings of Michael Scott of the Ark Band.  It felt magical...

This is my oldest gr'daughter on her 4th b'day in her new tutu.  She had danced & posed for multiple shots, then I caught her unaware gazing out the window.  Made a great ref shot for this painting. 18"x24" oil

These are all wonderful.

Do I remember something about Simon being a belly dancer?
