Hi all -

It feels like it's been like forever and a day, since I've done nibblefest, (my fulltime job prevents me from being very creative these days), but I finally managed to find some time for this month's entry.

The theme is "Birds & Bees", so I'm submitting a bird art print.

It's from an original piece by me, which I call "Birdy" and it's a raven with an unusual colored-beak (he's an outsider mis-fit I guess).

Anyway, the image size is 8x10" and it's matted in a navy blue acid-free 11x14" matt, so it's a good standard size for framing.

Hope you like it, and.... c'mon folks let's see YOUR September entries!!!

and here it is matted (how I will send it to auction winner):

These are the paintings I'm listing this week. The actual NFAC pieces are the two middle ones (the pink bird and girl and the bird).

I've been doing some lino block printing. It's a new technique for me and I am in love. I have been having SO much fun! The girl with the bird and the two mini girls (on the right end of the pic) are all block prints.

Anybody else having a love affair with lino printing? :)

Those are totally adorable, Tif!! Really, really cute! I wish you good luck with them!

I don't know anything about lino printing, but I do like your pieces!

Lino block prints are fun to do... you carve into a piece of semi-soft linoleum, cutting away the parts you *don't* want to print, and spread ink on the surface that's left and press it onto the surface to print the image (usually by hand, rub the paper with a wooden spoon or something to make sure the image transfers completely). You can print in a single color, prepare several blocks to print in different colors, go back into the image and draw or paint freehand, lots of different things.

The linoleum blocks (and other materials you can use, basically anything soft enough to carve but firm enough to print) and tools are pretty cheap and you can find them through most art supply stores and websites.

I haven't done linoleum prints since my printmaking class in college! It was fun but I was never very good at it, I think I like having more control over the image.

Diane, I bet your style would work well with them.

Ok.. I didn't have any good references of my chickens to paint.. so I'm going to retake ref photos of them and paint something for a 5 day auction..

but I thought I do have this painting that I'm going to list as it fits in..  I had it for sale at Bonanzle but I'll pull it out for nibble.

Here's mine - I was trying to revise it & got a bid while I was in the process, not sure if that's good or bad.
