I've been working on my Rips the past weeks. I'm really like to do Rips.  It gives me a chance to step out of my own style a little and try on someone else's.  It's just a bit nerve-wracking wondering what my partners will think.

I'm doing 2 this year.  One is finished, but I'm having trouble getting a good photo of it.  I'm well along the way with the second one, but still have some work to do.  Maybe I'll get it done tomorrow.

Anyone else working on a rip this weekend?

I have set up my still life for my RIP of Heather and am not sure I'm happy with any of the photos I took, so I think I'll do a composite. Or something. And I have printed out a copy of the work of Noelle's that I'm going to RIP, and worked on some sketches for the girl's position.
And that's about the extent of it so far.
Actually, I need to get a move on, as I'm leaving for France on July 28...

This is what I am worried about, as this is my first time doing this. I am doing 2, Susie Q, and Tiff Matthews. They are both done and I am petrafied. Glad you said you were also Beth and learn I am not the only worry wart here.

Alma!  Have you shown your finished rips to your partiners?  Any chance we can get a glimpse?

Working up courage. Honestly I am definitely out of my comfort zone here. I will have to show pretty soon. I struggle with the fact that I simply can not out and out rip anything. I made some minor changes and tried to hold to the original style I also had to scale down the size on both as I can't paint, I had to stick to color pencils, which is a bit more tedious, and in order to finish I had to make them smaller than the originals. I am going to be so fired!. I am holding on to the "your interpetation" clause in the rules. My Bad!!!!

(((Heather))) I hope you like that...it was my first RIP too.

I'm like you Alma,  I have a hard time doing a straight RIP of someone's work...I have to do something with my own stamp on it.  I don't reallyn think the person I'm ripping wants a dupilcate of something they already made themselves.

I've gotten very cool rips from my partners too.  I could post all of them, but here's one I got from Donna that illustrates her interpreting my paintings.

I love RIPS. I signed up in the thread, but noone took me up on it. I couldn't work on it until after I get to Charleston, so probably just as well. Alma, please let's see!

For another example, go look at Marc MacCallum's RIP of my dogwood.

Aren't you tired of that painting yet? It would look really good in my house...

I did my rips in a frenzy two weeks ago, and am just waiting to get in from the printer so I can ship them out to my partners.  Can't get an address for one of my partners, though...she seems to have fallen off the map.

I love Ripped Off...what a wonderful idea.
