ORIGINAL: fallbaby55 I'm thinking about trying again but am not sure because of the "well developed statement" thing...what exactly is considered a well developed statement? I mean I can only say so much about my work..it's pretty simple...help! A well-developed statement can be as little as a paragraph. It's definitely more than, "My newest cat painting," or worse yet, nothing at all. Requiring well-developed statements is two-fold for EBSQ Juried Artists. First, it gives the search engines a way to bring traffic to your art because it searches words not images. Secondly, once folks are here at the site, it helps people connect with you and your art. The online art market is remarkably different than selling in a brick and mortar arena. Without being able to see the work in person, it's harder to connect to an image on a screen without the context you provide. Your photographs of your work need to be exceptional. Your writing needs to be decent-ish. And while yes, we know that some artists who want to jury in aren't necessarily interested in selling their work online, part of EJA's purpose is to help artists develop the skills to give them better successes online in addition to rewarding excellence in the art itself. The application dates this spring are April 5-20.
