I have been seeing these nifty pendants that are just a print, clear cabochon and a metal setting.

I am trying to figure out how it all goes together.  I assume that it you glue the print to the plastic cabochon and then glue that into the setting.  But what glue to use?
E6000 just made it blurry.  ModgPodge looked great, but will it hold the cabochon in the setting?

I have seen these sets at beading stores! It comes with several metal backings, sometimes I necklace chain, and usually some adhesive! I know one set has a clear liquid fill that you pour over the image and it becomes clear and hard to protect it like it was a glass covering. I am unsure what it is called, but that is where I would go to find out about what it is, and what they have available to make them.

Hope that helps some!

What I use for many projects comes in a box and you mix it right before you use it. Its expensive but worth it. Its in a blue/white box and has pour on finish on the front. And then there are many different jewelry glues and adhesives, just look in the glue isle at your local craft stores.

it sounds like what you are talking about, that clear stuff that you mix up and pour onto an image to preserve it, is resin......clear resin....

Hi, I like easy stuff so I buy Aleene's "Jewel-it" to glue metal and or glass or heavy items together and it is very strong and also flexible apparently (for fabric), although I haven't needed that.

I just bought Aleene's Paper Glaze too. It says it Adds a glass-like dimensional layer to cards and stamped designs. It is for dimensional designs and laminating. It has a needlenose tip for precise application. I haven't tried it yet but am hoping it's what I need to get more than a collage-like surface like mod-podge gives. I also had trouble with colors bleeding with collage gels. This product says it will not run colors! and accentuates design details. Sounds like it might work.

I buy my supplies at Michaels and they are usually available online too. I wait for in-store 40% off coupons in the paper and stock up on glue with each coupon.

I am familiar with the resin jewelry.

What I have been seeing, seems to be popular with the fantasy artists right now on etsy.  It is prints behind acrylic cabochons.  The settings are standard shallow cabochon settings that you would glue the cabochon into.

I have the settings, I have some cabochons (messed up several experimenting so far).

Modge Podge is the only thing that has worked for adhering the print to the cabochon, but I wasn't sure what would be best for adhering the cabochon to the setting.  I am afraid that the e6000 would just mess up the print like it did when I used it to adhere the print to the cabochon.

I have this idea running through my head that I have been wanting to do for months now.  I want to make the pendants with my prints and then create a beaded necklace for it to hang from.  I have made jewelry with my prints and the flip top frames, but those are not fancy enough for what I am wanting to do this time.  I am hoping for a more Victorian look to it.

I wish that I could help Melia but I can't. However, if anyone is interested in resin here is Tiffini's LIVE...

I hope you will post photos, Melia!!!

Modge Podge is good stuff and while I would trust it as the glue to the cabochon -

It might work as a glue to your setting - but I suspect that it may not have the strength you want.

Would it be possible for you to post a photo of the setting?? Is it a frame like setting?? is it open in the middle on the back??

You could coat the back of your print with modge podge and after that dried use something like tacky glue or airplane glue? The modge podge ought to protect the back of your print from going wonky.

IF you were to do that and it seems to work and there is an area on the back which would be exposed modge podge - rub it with a bit of waxed paper. Modge Podge has a "sympathetic" quality even when dry which means that it will stick to other things of a similar nature.

I do Christmas ornaments with tissue papers every year and after testing all sorts of varnishes, mediums and such to finish off my pieces Modge Podge was the only one that kept my tissues colors stable - the others eventually allowed for fading or discoloration.

Can't wait to see the project!!! :) :) :)

The back is a flat solid.  And when the cabochon is in it, it looks like a silvery victorian style frame.

Ah! Then using Modge Podge will probably work - a good layer of it in the bottom of your frame and place the cabochon on top - I think that would be enough to make it secure! ;)
